Points of Attention When Taking Out a Telenet Contract
Is the Telenet contract your first contract in Belgium? Do not forget to cancel, if necessary, your telecom contract(s) in your previous country. Important to know as well is that it is not possible to keep your current phone number when you take out a mobile or fixed phone subscription with Telenet. Do not forget to inform important institutes and organizations (e.g. the government) and your family and friends about this change!
Do you currently already have a contract with a Belgium telecom provider? Switching of provider can be done in three ways:
- Call CallMePower for help with taking out a contract with Telenet and cancelling your current contract.
- Take out a new contract yourself and inform Telenet that you want to use Easy Switch and/or that you want to keep your current phone number. Telenet will then take care of cancelling your current contract(s).
- Take out a new contract and cancel your current contract yourself.
After taking out a new contract with Telenet, it is important to make sure that you send back all the equipment that you rented or loaned from your old provider back to them. If you do not do so, you may be charged a fee.
How Do You Cancel a Telenet Contract?
Are you no longer happy with Telenet? You can reach our telecom experts on +32 2588 2547 or through the online chat.
You can also take out a contract with a new telecom provider yourself. You will then have the choice between cancelling your Telenet contract yourself, or using Easy Switch. With the latter, your new provider will cancel your Telenet contract.
If you want to keep your current phone number, you can inform your new provider about that during the ordering process. Just as with Easy Switch, your new provider will then cancel your phone subscription(s) with Telenet.
Of course, you also have the possibility to cancel your Telenet contracts yourself. To do this, you need to contact the customer service of Telenet, e.g. by calling the administration on 0800 66 046.
What Do You Need To Do When You Move?
What you need to do when you move, depends on the contracts you have taken out with Telenet and where you move to:
- I move within Flanders / a Dutch municipality in Brussels and have a broadband (and mobile) subscription or a pack
You have to inform Telenet through the Mijn Telenet customer zone about your move. They will then contact you to make an appointment for the installation in your new place. - I move to Wallonia / a French municipality in Brussels and have a broadband (and mobile) subscription or a pack
It is not possible to keep your broadband subscription or pack with Telenet. Therefore, you would need to cancel your contract by contacting Telenet, calling CallMePower or switching to a new provider. It is possible to keep your mobile subscription, for which you only have to change the address in the Mijn Telenet customer zone. - I move within Belgium and have a mobile subscription
You have to change your address in the Mijn Telenet customer zone from the old address to your new address. - I move abroad and have a broadband (and mobile) subscription or a pack
It is not possible to remain a customer with Telenet. Therefore, you would need to cancel your contract by contacting the customer service of Telenet and take out new contracts with a provider in your new country. - I move abroad and have a mobile subscription
Theoretically, it is possible to remain a customer with Telenet, however, you might want to compare local offers with your Telenet contract and decide for yourself how important it is to keep your Belgian phone number.
If you move within Belgium, it is important to verify ahead of time whether the place is already connected to the Telenet network. If this is the case, you need to inform Telenet about your move three to four weeks before the actual moving date. If your new place is not yet connected to either the Telenet network, you need to inform Telenet at least six weeks before the moving date about the move.
