Fiber Network in Belgium
Fiber is in Belgium not as far rolled out as in many other countries. In the map below, you can find out what currently the fiber coverage in your municipality is.
In Belgium, there are three telecom providers responsible for the broadband network: Proximus, Telenet and VOO. Only Proximus offers a full fiber connection, meaning that there is actually a fiber connection inside your house. Telenet and VOO are already using fiber cables everywhere outside. However, the last part of the connection, from the street to your house, is still using a coax-cable.
The so-called HFC-connection allows higher internet speeds than a full coax-connection. The internet speed is not as high, though, as with a full fiber connection. All the broadband offers of Telenet and VOO, and the providers who use their network, are using an HFC-connection.
