Founded in 2013 by two entrepreneurs from Liege, Mega whose name is an acronym for “My Energy and GAs” is a relatively young player in the Belgian energy market. Mega Energie is a 100% Belgian supplier which positions itself as a supplier of gas and electricity offering green energy that is affordable for everyone. Thanks to high-quality customer service and transparent pricing, Mega quickly established itself on the Belgian market as an alternative to traditional suppliers. Present in Wallonia, Flanders, and in Brussels, Mega offers a local tariff at competitive prices.

Mega Energie’s History

The liberalization of the energy market has removed the monopoly from the supplier ENGIE Electrabel. Today, consumers can choose from different providers, including Mega, an independent provider which launched in 2013.
Created by two people from Liège who care about the environment, the headquarters are located in Liège in Belgium. Mega Energie’s mission is to provide cheaper and toiler-made energy solutions. Mega’s objectives are to:
- Provide the best prices on the market
- Have the greenest energy, including the option of carbon neutral gas
- Customized customer service with the subscription
Recognizd in particular for its group purchasing activities (collective switches), Mega provides energy in Wallonia, Flanders, and Brussels. The main reason they are popular is because they provide locally produced green electricity. They can also supply you with 100% carbon neutral natural gas.
In recent years, Mega has stood out for its commitment to making green energy accessible to all. To accomplish this, the supplier has invested in renewable energy, particularly solar and wind power.
Today, Mega is affected by the consequences of its split from IMG. Since 2019, Mega no longer has its own energy production. Therefore, it buys half of its energy directly from a green energy producer. The other half is purchased on the European Energy market and so partially contains energy from nuclear and coal sources.
