Who is ENGIE Belgium?
ENGIE Electrabel, which offered its services under the name Electrabel until 2015, is the main supplier of gas and electricity on the Flemish, Walloon and Brussels energy markets. Electrabel had a de facto monopoly on this market until 2003, a situation that ended when the Belgian energy market was opened up to competition under the impulse of the European Union between 2003 and 2007.
After the liberalisation of the energy market, ENGIE Electrabel started to develop itself and had to adapt to new competitors. Today this energy supplier is competing with a large number of competitors.

Although many new players have entered the market after the liberalisation, ENGIE Electrabel still has the largest market share. In the first quarter of 2023, ENGIE had a market share of 40% on the Flemish electricity market and 39% on the gas market.
