Fiber Network in Belgium
Fiber is in Belgium not as far rolled out as in many other countries. In the map below, you can find out what currently the fiber coverage in your municipality is.
In Belgium, there are three telecom providers responsible for the broadband network: Proximus, Telenet and VOO. Only Proximus offers a full fiber connection, meaning that there is actually a fiber connection inside your house. Telenet and VOO are already using fiber cables everywhere outside. However, the last part of the connection, from the street to your house, is still using a coax-cable.
The so-called HFC-connection allows higher internet speeds than a full coax-connection. The internet speed is not as high, though, as with a full fiber connection. All the broadband offers of Telenet and VOO, and the providers who use their network, are using an HFC-connection.

Important to keep in mind is that it is only possible to subscribe to a pack of VOO in Wallonia and the French-speaking municipalities of Brussels. Subscribing to a pack of Telenet is, however, only possible in Flanders and the Dutch-speaking municipalities of Brussels.
It is not necessary to take out a pack if you would like just a new broadband and mobile subscription. It is also possible to subscribe to a cheap broadband offer and a cheap mobile offer separately. This offers you more possibilities, since there are more providers with broadband and mobile offers that do not offer packs.
For TV you can either subscribe to a TV offer separately. However, many households no longer need a traditional TV subscription. For them, a subscription to a streaming service is already sufficient.
How To Compare Broadband, Mobile and TV?
If you want to find the best pack for you, it is important to compare telecom offers and providers. When doing so, we recommend you start with making a list for yourself with the requirements of the pack and provider. Think about:
- Do I need unlimited data, or am I not a big user?
- What internet speed do I need?
- What internet connections are available on my address?
- How much mobile data do I need?
- Do I want unlimited calling and texting? If not, how much do I need?
- Do I want to use 5G, or is 4G sufficient?
- Which television channels would you like to receive?
- Do you want to watch TV with or without a TV decoder?
- What functionalities should be present in your television contract (e.g. recording, pausing, etc.)?
- How would I like to be able to contact the provider?
- What is my monthly budget?
